These paintings and works on paper, that were mostly completed in a studio, were selected from all of the artworks done since 1984, including my three years at art-school in Melbourne. I used oil and acrylic paint on canvas and paper until 2005, then found drawing media such as oil sticks, pastels and charcoal were more suited to my way of working and visual language. I prefer to work spontaneously, intuitively and quickly, particularly when working outside in the landscape on works on paper that are then completed in the studio.
From 1987 to 1989, I worked from a studio in Melbourne, then from different studios in Hobart, after moving there in 1994. All the studio artworks here were done in Tasmania from that time. However, there are gaps of two to three years during this period since 1987 where I was traveling, drawing and working overseas, but also studying full-time. These include the time periods from 1989-94, 2006 and 07, 2008-10 and 2014-16. (See: Overseas studio artworks, Journey artworks and stories, and Journey photos and stories pages.)
All artworks here are titled and dated.
